Complete Men

Locations: Brunswick Heads

The Complete Men Foundation is a not-for-profit charity providing weekly men's groups in South East Queensland and Northern NSW with an online group for men from other regions. The Foundation offers workshops, individual support and programs for men to engage in, as well as related personal growth activities. The groups offer opportunities for men to connect, share, and seek help with emotional, financial, and relationship challenge.

Domestic Violence Crisis Service

Locations: Canberra

Domestic and family violence happens to men too, including men in same-sex relationships. People who use violence against men include their children, wives or partners, ex-partners, parents and siblings. Men who are subjected to domestic and family violence are more likely to be impacted by psychological symptoms, stress, depression and alcoholism than men who do not experience violence.

24/7 crisis intervention services to anyone who is experiencing, or has experienced, domestic and family violence. This service provides integrated support to single men over 25 years of age who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and links them to a range of services. The Men’s Referral Service is an anonymous and confidential telephone service for men. SMS4dads supports men in their role as fathers. SMS4dads provides information and support to dads from 12 weeks into their partners pregnancy and throughout the first year of parenthood. Information is provided via text messages. The messages are linked to the baby’s birth date, so information is relevant to the age of their baby. SMS4dads includes an interactive MoodChecker to check in on Dad and if he needs support, a trained counsellor from PANDA – Australia’s National Perinatal Mental Health Helpline, reaches out and makes contact.

READY provides practical and emotional support (case management and counselling) for alcohol and other drugs use and their harms to young people and families. Community Restorative Centre Prison Transition

Locations: Across Western Sydney

Many people with a history of involvement in the criminal justice system find it difficult to access mainstream counselling services, so the service works on an outreach basis. The service can visit clients in correctional centres on a pre-release basis, in their own homes, at another service, or in the community. Clients can be referred prior to their release from custody, however, they have the flexibility to support any client who has been in prison previously and wants to access AOD support. The Buttery

The Therapeutic Community (TC), a long-term residential program in Byron Bay, helps people with alcohol addiction, substance misuse and mental health conditions to find lasting recovery. Under the TC model, participants provide a mutually supportive environment for recovery.
Maintenance to Abstinence (MTA), a mid-term residential program specialising in opioid replacement is for people who wish to withdraw from an opiate substitute maintenance program to pursue an abstinence-based lifestyle. Co-located within the Therapeutic Community, MTA participants have the opportunity to adjust to an abstinence-based lifestyle over three months. People who have attempted suicide or experienced a suicidal crisis often experience severe distress in the days and weeks immediately afterwards, and they are at high risk of attempting again. The Way Back Support Service Coordinator contacts the person within one business day of receiving their referral and tailors a program for up to three months after discharge from hospital. This program is built on personal connection and integration with community services. Beyond Blue has handed The Way Back Support Service to governments around Australia as of July 2023 but each of the locations continue to be managed by community-based service providers, including local health districts, hospitals and primary health networks.
