Bridging the Gap – Men’s Resource Centre

Locations: 183 Rose Avenue, Coffs Harbour

The Men's Resource Centre is a safe space where men can gather and talk, receive counselling, and attend programs. Open from Tuesday to Thursday, 9am to 3pm, the centre offers:

The Complete Men Foundation is a not-for-profit charity providing weekly men's groups in South East Queensland and Northern NSW with an online group for men from other regions. The Foundation offers workshops, individual support and programs for men to engage in, as well as related personal growth activities. Namatjira Haven supports Aboriginal men and their mob in the process of healing from alcohol and substance misuse by reconnecting to self, family, community and culture. The Gulgihwen Program is for Aboriginal mean 18 years and over offering a compassionate and culturally focused professional live-in program of change, centred on self responsibility in healing. It provides education and support towards addressing the issues of substance misuse and related harms such as criminality, and to improve health and wellbeing.

The 24-hour Line is part of St Vincent Hospital's Stimulant Treatment Program that offers free counselling and support for people who use stimulants, such as methamphetamine (ice), cocaine and ecstasy. READY provides practical and emotional support (case management and counselling) for alcohol and other drugs use and their harms to young people and families. READY also provides a large range of harm reduction initiatives to reduce the harms of alcohol and other drugs, and promotes health and wellbeing through these activities. Al-Anon Family Groups

The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship or relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope, in order to solve their common problem.  The Al-Anon program of recovery is adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous and is based on the Twelve Steps. Only requirement for membership is that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend. Clean Slate Clinic

Telehealth home detox delivery to detox from alcohol, cannibis and methamphetamine. Clean Slate Clinic aim is to improve the health and wellness of individuals struggling with alcohol dependence. The service includes assessment, medicated withdrawal and a 12-month program of follow-up, including regular nursing check-ins and weekly access to a Smart Recovery Group.
  • Western NSW PHN region - services for withdrawal (detox) and recovery are accessible to all residents region, irrespective of postcode or socio-economic status.
  • Northern Sydney - There are 20 funded placements for patients in Northern Sydney region needing alcohol withdrawal and recovery who cannot afford to pay for this service.

Community Restorative Centre Prison Transition

Locations: Across Western Sydney

Many people with a history of involvement in the criminal justice system find it difficult to access mainstream counselling services, so the service works on an outreach basis. The service can visit clients in correctional centres on a pre-release basis, in their own homes, at another service, or in the community. Clients can be referred prior to their release from custody, however, they have the flexibility to support any client who has been in prison previously and wants to access AOD support. Priority is given to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

  • Althea Wellness Centre (21 Bowes St, Woden) is a specialist primary health clinic for individuals and their families impacted by current or past alcohol and other drug use, mental health and other complex health and wellbeing issues.
  • Arcadia House is a Therapeutic Community in North Canberra Hospital, Bruce
  • ‘Chat to PAT’ is a purpose-built mobile clinic that provides wrap around support to marginalised Canberrans.

Foundation House

Alcohol, other drug and gambling addiction rehab programs for the Construction Industry and Health Services Industry. Foundation House offers residential rehabilitation, outpatient services and ongoing support after rehab. The 28-day residential program is often the first step in the recovery process. There is also a men-only relapse prevention group on Wednesdays.

The program includes structured therapeutic groups, support and education/information sessions. Interventions will vary based on client need but will include evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
